I received a thoughtful suggestion via my email in response to my writing 'freeze.' This is from Jennifer Chow, author of several cozy mysteries:

"...here are two things that have worked for me in the past surrounding the midpoint. One is to think about the characters and their Mirror Moment; here's a blog post that explains this idea coined by James Scott Bell: https://diymfa.com/writing/signpost-scene-mirror-moment/

The second is to use sticky notes! Actual Post-its are best for this work. Basically, let your stream of consciousness flow by writing different ideas of what could happen in the scene or plot. You can write down, say, ten ideas. Go through them, and pick the one that resonates with you the most."

Thank you, Jennifer, for helping out a writing friend!
