My husband and I started doing long-stay travel in 2021. We stay eight weeks in a specific part of a country/world (i.e., Central America, Europe), and we try to see as many parts of that country as possible on the weekend. For example, when we were in Central America, we spent 4 weeks in Costa Rica and 4 in Panama.
Like you, I find traveling to be a way to broaden your own mind, as well as others. When we were in Croatia, there were few Black people, and every time we interacted with a Croatian, it was like a little mini-cultural exchange. Anywho, I didn't mean to go on and on lol
